Usyk Reacts To Signing With DAZN and Eddie Hearn - Eyes Heavyweight Division

Undisputed world cruiserweight champion Alexander Usyk has today signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and will appear on DAZN in the new season for American boxing fans.

Usyk has dominated the cruiserweight division in his professional career and the Ukraine boxing phenom has already drawn pound for pound comparisons to fellow countryman Vasyl Lomachenko in some quarters.

His recent triumph in the World Boxing Super Series looks set to be followed up with a fight against Tony Bellew at some stage in the future.

After that however, he’s got his eyes on big things with an option to go to the heavyweight division.

Speaking on today’s news Usyk said:

“I’m thrilled that K2 Promotions will be working with Matchroom Boxing moving forward to secure me the biggest fights out there. Fans can look forward to watching me take on the biggest and best names in the sport. Boxing for me is all about drama and victory, and there is plenty more to come. A fight with Tony Bellew would be a momentous occasion, he is a good boxer and a good person and I also have the option to move into the Heavyweight division.”

The heavyweight division is really buzzing at the moment but what a future addition he could potentially be to an already stacked weight class.

Notable cruiserweight champions who have managed to move up and win a title at heavyweight include Evander Holyfield and David Haye.
