Oscar De La Hoya has come into the story line heavily in the Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez rematch on September 15th and the former champion fighter turned promoter has upped the ante with the bad blood between the two camps.

Both team Golovkin and team Canelo genuinely seem to not like one another.

From the promoters, to the coaches, to the most important two, Golovkin and Canelo, there is no love lost coming into this rematch.

Speaking to Villainfy Media, De La Hoya has revealed some of Golovkin’s demands for the rematch and has questioned his support of his own country:

“Look, I mean, they have to stop all this nonsense. I can tell you one thing for instance. Talk about not supporting your own country? The Golovkin people didn’t want to sing the national anthems before the fight. That’s a ritual. Having a national anthem before a championship fight is what you’re supposed to do. It makes it feel like a bigger event. Golovkin’s people didn’t want the Kazakstan national anthem to be sang, the Mexican national anthem to be sung, the American national anthem to be sung. I mean what else are they going to demand? Jesus, are they going to cancel the fight? Just go out there and fight!”
