It has been quite some time since the Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya fight in Las Vegas but the fight apparently is still fresh in the memory of Oscar.

The two American boxing stars of their era.

Before Floyd became ‘Money Mayweather’ he was in the ‘Golden Boy’ shadow of Oscar De La Hoya who was the premier pay per view attraction in US boxing before Mayweather.

The two were promoted by Bob Arum’s Top Rank at one time until Floyd made the move to become his own boss, befriend Al Haymon and ultimately, re-brand as ‘Money Mayweather’ and bank a fortune.

Their fight has been over 11 years now (2007) but De La Hoya still feels he could have won if in his prime.

Speaking to TMZ, De La Hoya said:

“It’s no secret that I fought Floyd when I was over the hill, past my prime. If I was about 28 or 29 years old, I would have knocked that ass out easy.”

The two men are now rival promoters in the sport with De La Hoya heading up his Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather heading up his Mayweather Promotions.

Expect this rivalry to continue in the promoter world for many years to come.
