Ricky Hatton Gives Early Wilder vs Fury Prediction

Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton was in Tyson Fury’s corner this past weekend as an assistant to head trainer Ben Davison and has seen the physical and mental transformation of Fury this year in his gym in Manchester.

Fury has been training at Hatton’s gym in Manchester for much of this year and has shed a remarkable near nine stone in just over nine months since getting back into serious training.

Hatton knew a thing or two about losing large amounts of weight during his own career but even he has been taken back by such a transformation in Fury.

Speaking in Belfast after Fury’s ten round points win over Francesco Pianeta at the weekend, Hatton spoke about the Wilder super fight next for Fury.

Speaking to IFL TV Hatton said:

“That straight right hand that Wilder has is absolutely murderous. Deontay Wilder only needs to hit that money shot once, but the stuff he does in order to get that right hand in is technically poor. Wilder will have to be a lot better technically if he wants to beat the best defensive heavyweight in history. My prediction is a Fury win on points.”

The fight in many ways is a match up of not only two of the top-tier world heavyweights out there, outside of Anthony Joshua, but perhaps two that possess the most unorthodox fighting styles too.

Wilder, a big swinging knockout artist who comes from unorthodox angles in explosive fashion and Fury, a very quick man for his size and uber skilled fighter with an ability to measure distance as well as anyone to evade attacks.
