Kambosos On Difference Sparring Pacquiao Before Matthysse and Horn Fight

Undefeated Australian lightweight George Kambosos recently signed with promoter Lou DiBella in the US and is eyeing a world title fight in the near future.

Kambosos was Manny Pacquiao’s chief sparring partner for his recent Lucas Matthysse stoppage win in Malaysia and has been plotting his way up to ranks steadily in recent times.

With a record of 15-0-9KO he is starting to get noticed outside of Australia and is beginning to make waves with those in the UK and US boxing scenes.

Speaking to Tommy Watt of T2T Boxing, he spoke of his recent experience with Pacquiao before the Matthysse fight:

“Manny was such a happier fighter in this camp. The way we sparred, the way we trained. We trained so much smarter than for the Horn fight. And he was up for this fight, I truly believe. He was the challenger so he really wanted the belt back. If he had lost against Matthysse it was all done so I think he had that in his head. There was no Freddie Roach, obviously that’s their side of things, so I won’t get into that. Buboy and Justin Fortune done a fantastic job.

He added:

“Also we had to pull Manny back. He’s 39 years old. He doesn’t need to be doing things that I’m doing. I’m 25. The last time for the Horn camp we trained so hard that even I was feeling it. Imagine what a guy who was 38 (at the time) was feeling?”

Pacquiao is expected to return on December 1st or 2nd against an opponent to be confirmed.
