Kubrat Pulev Splits From Sauerland Promotions

Heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev has now parted ways with promoters Sauerland – it was confirmed today.

The Bulgarian heavyweight is widely regarded in the top ten heavyweights in the world and has a big fight coming up in October with Hughie Fury in an elimination bout.

Reuters reported today that Pulev said:

“Everything happened 10 days ago. I paid $150,000 because of the early termination of the contract.”

An interesting move ahead of such a big fight around the corner. Perhaps Pulev has found another offer elsewhere in terms of a new promoter.

He added:

We pursue different interests and we have a different ideology. I think everyone should pursue his goals in his own way and that’s good for all. And I had to pay for it.”

It looks like a difference of opinion between promoter and fighter but a boxer has to do what is right for his own career at the end of the day.

Pulev was lined up to fight Anthony Joshua earlier this year but a last-minute injury ten days before the fight forced Carlos Takam to step in for him.

Pulev will take on Hughie Fury in his home country of Bulgaria in Sofia on October 27th.
