Eddie Hearn Opens Up On New Anthony Joshua Deal

New Anthony Joshua Deal

Speculation about heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s future was unknown in recent months as his promotional deal came to an end. Today the answer to that speculation has come.

Joshua put pen to paper officially today on a new three-year deal with existing promoter Matchroom Sport headed by Eddie Hearn.

Joshua has quickly shot to stardom in world boxing in recent years and along with Canelo Alvarez of Mexico, now finds himself as arguably the biggest star in world boxing.

Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV on the news, promoter Eddie Hearn said:

“Big news. It was always going to happen. We had known about it for a long time. Obviously when you’re papering something like this it’s a very complex procedure but we agreed terms two or three months ago to extend. Just running the paperwork. Obviously it was in tandem with Sky Sports so he’ll be boxing on Sky Sports for another three years as well.”

He added on how many fights will be in the deal:

“It’s a minimum of five fights.”

On how the deal will work on networks in the US and UK, Hearn concluded:

“One fight on DAZN (for US boxing fans) plus options and in the UK at least five fights on Sky (for UK boxing fans).”

The first fight of the new deal begins on September 22nd when Joshua defends his title next against Russian Alexander at Wembley Stadium in front of 90,000 fans.

The fight will be live on Sky Box Office in the UK and will be shown on the DAZN streaming platform in the US.
