George Groves Fires Shot At World Boxing Super Series

The super-middleweight tournament finalist has grown frustrated to put it lightly. Friday will mark the draft gala for the second year of the WBSS but the final for the first year at 168lbs still hasn’t happened and appears to be in limbo.

As things stand George Groves and Callum Smith are still waiting on confirmation of when and where the final of this year’s World Boxing Super Series will be.

Initially Groves suffered an injury in his semi-final win over Chris Eubank Jr that caused the original final date to be postponed but since then, although a lot of conflicting reports have emerged, nothing has been penciled in and firmed up concretely.

Speaking on social media, Groves has let his feelings go in public on the matter:

The super-middleweight division is alive and well at the moment with a host of options available for the winner of the Muhammad Ali trophy in the WBSS.

When it does eventually happen.

The WBSS is quickly becoming a revolutionary format for boxing but one thing it will always have to battle with its format is the risk of injuries and dates following out.
