Rocky Fielding Becomes New WBA ‘Regular’ Super-Middleweight World Champion

Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding had his very own Rocky moment tonight as the Liverpool boxer became the new WBA ‘Regular’ champion at 168lbs.

Trained by Manchester’s Jamie Moore, Fielding was able to stop German Tyron Zeuge in the 5th round after the towel came in following a Fielding onslaught.

Fielding started the fight strongly, taking the center of the ring from round one and getting behind a solid jab.

Zeuge responded in the second however in a close round, one the German likely took on work rate alone.

Fielding then came back with a more aggressive round three, again, in another close round, but one I gave to the Englishman. Just.

By round four Fielding looked to impose his size advantage on the German, walking him down and starting to establish dominance in a clear round for the Liverpool native.

Zeuge looked like a tired fighter by the end of the round.

The end was to come for him in the fifth when Fielding landed a beautiful left hook to drop him and followed up with a precise attack, prompting the towel to come in.

The win sees Fielding capture the WBA title and improve his professional boxing record to 27-1-15KO.

Some big fights now await out there for him in the super-middleweight division.

Domestically alone in the UK the likes of George Groves, Callum Smith, James DeGale and Chris Eubank Jr will all now be on his (and their) radar.

His only loss to date came to Callum Smith in 2015.
