Parker Promoter Blasts Level Of Boxing Judging In The UK

Joseph Parker promoter Dave Higgins has not taken kindly to the two times he has traveled to the UK thus far in terms of the judging received for his fight Joseph Parker.

Higgins has promoted Joseph Parker in two fights in the UK in recent times.

Firstly when he defended his WBO heavyweight title belt in Manchester last year to Hughie Fury and secondly when Parker was defeated on points by heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua earlier this year.

In the first instance many believed Hughie Fury actually won the fight against Parker, whereas the second fight against Joshua was not up for debate.

That said, Higgins was not pleased with either of the occasions.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Higgins said:

“The British Board of Control is probably one of the most respected boxing commissions in the world. Twice we have come to the UK and twice the officiating has involved a level of disgrace.”

He later added on the Whyte fight:

“It was appalling. He didn’t let the boxers engage and fight properly.”

Higgins’ charge Joseph Parker will return to the UK next month when he takes on Dillian Whyte in an eliminator at the 02 Arena in London.

The winner could be in line for a number of big fights in the heavyweight division later in the year.

Notably against Anthony Joshua or even Deontay Wilder.

Depending on what happens in the current Joshua vs Wilder negotiations.
