De La Hoya Urges GGG To Take The Canelo Rematch Deal

The 12pm noon (PT time) deadline today for Gennady Golovkin to accept the revised deal to face Canelo Alvarez is fast approaching – and Canelo’s promoter is letting him know it.

Things are not looking good for those hoping for a September rematch showdown between the pair as time is now running out.

Canelo’s promoter tabled a final 57.5-42.5 split percentage offer to Golovkin this week with the ultimatum stating that it needs to be accepted by today at noon.

Oscar De La Hoya has now tweeted at Golovkin to remind him that time is almost running out:

Things seem to be playing out more and more on social media these days in terms of making big fights – but this doesn’t look good at all.

Surely there would be private communication behind the scenes by both parties if a deal was going to be signed and when, of if it was, would just get announced.

Golden Boy (headed by De La Hoya) Promotions have said they will move on to Danny Jacobs for Canelo in September if Golovkin does not accept the offer today.
