David Price Warns Anthony Joshua About Povetkin

It is looking exceedingly likely that Anthony Joshua will face Alexander Povetkin next and if that is the case, Povetkin’s last opponent David Price has a word of warning for his fellow UK rival.

Liverpool’s David Price has been unlucky in his boxing career in more ways than one.

From facing fighters who were proven to have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs after fights with him, he hasn’t always got the rub of the green.

His last fight against Russian Alexander Povetkin was widely considered as his last roll of the dice in terms of a run at a title shot but a knockout defeat more than likely has now ended those dreams.

Say what you want though, David Price went out on his shield and won a lot of plaudits that night with the way he fought before been stopped and could walk away with his head held high.

Speaking to Wingy Boxing of IFL TV at the weekend Price had a warning for Joshua if he faces Povetkin next:

“The funny thing is now with Povetkin because I gave him an alright fight all of a sudden he’s s**** in a lot of people’s eyes. Everyone’s going to batter Povetkin now (laughs). Listen mate, there’s a reason he’s done what he’s done for a reason. He’s going to fight Anthony Joshua. Joshua’s got to beat him obviously. Don’t take him lightly. Not one bit would I take him lightly.”

Price now does a lot of work in commentating in boxing and is still an active fighter as things stand.

Some have suggested he could fight Tyson Fury at some point this year.
