Ricky Hatton Opens Up On Lucas Browne Situation, Reacts To Claim He Was Avoiding Him

Recently former WBA heavyweight champion Lucas Browne released a video saying he could not get in contact with his promoter Ricky Hatton. Hatton has now responded.

Hatton has heavyweight Nathan Gorman boxing this weekend against Sean Turner on the undercard of the Tyson Fury show in Manchester.

Speaking to Wingy Boxing of IFL TV, Hatton said of the recent Browne video:

“Well we’ve emailed his manager asking where he’s at and where he’s up to but to be honest with you I was a bit disappointed in his condition when he come over for the Dillian Whyte fight. He had two years out and he had looked like he had two years out, and the condition he turned up in – he announced to the British Boxing Board that he was on medication I think for depression as well.”

Asked did he know about it:

“No I didn’t. My main role as a promoter is the safety of the boxer. He said last time for the Dillian Whyte fight that ‘I’m ready’. He didn’t look ready. Mentally if you was on medication for your mental state, I can’t just take your word for it. You said that last time Lucas, you wasn’t. I’m not going to get you a fight until you’re 100 per cent.”

It is not known who Browne’s next opponent will be at this time.

Whyte takes on Joseph Parker next up on July 28th in the UK.
