Lomachenko Reacts To Linares Thinking The Fight Should Not Have Been Stopped

Vasyl Lomachenko stopped Jorge Linares in round ten of their bout with a peach of a body shot but the latter believed the fight was stopped a bit prematurely.

The fight was a terrific battle from start to end but when the finish came – it was clinical.

Ruthless.

Not many, if any, could have beat the count after the body shot that ended it.

However Jorge Linares felt the contest was stopped a little early when he spoke to media after the bout.

Speaking through a translator after the fight, Lomachenko reacted by saying:

“It’s not my job to judge or see what the referees or judges were doing. So if the referee decided to stop it he made the right decision. If you (Linares) think you wanted to continue and you understand the referee could stop the fight – you need to stand up for a couple of seconds after that and show that you are capable of boxing on.”

Some have called for a rematch of the fight given its compelling start to finish action but likely the next move for Linares – is either Mikey Garcia or Gervonta Davis.

It was reported recently that Davis’ promoter Floyd Mayweather made a call to Lomachenko’s promoter in an effort to make the fight.
