Can Katie Taylor Become A Superstar in Women’s Boxing?

This Saturday night Irish boxing star Katie Taylor bids to win her first world title unification in the pro ranks as her team look to introduce her more to the American audience.

On last count 38 million Irish-Americans now call the US their home.

An incredible stat when you consider there is little more than 4.5 million people living on the tiny island of Ireland itself.

Add to this the global estimate being around 100 million Irish scattered across the world and you’ve got one big potential audience for a popular Irish sports person.

Boxing has always been one of Ireland’s most successful sports and Katie Taylor as an Olympic Gold medalist and now undefeated world champion represents one of the country’s greatest ever athletes.

Hands down.

Her promoter Eddie Hearn is convinced of her fan-friendly, exciting, blistering quick fight style and that over time with more and more vintage performances, that her star status will be solidified not just in Ireland – but around the world.

This weekend she fights on HBO and it will be the perfect opportunity for her to showcase what she can really do in front of the American market.

If she keeps churning in entertaining performances and preferably stoppage wins inside the distance, there’s no reason why American fight fans (and world boxing fans) won’t take to this likable female pugilist.
