Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas Battle To A Draw – Broner Blasts Decision

Tonight’s fight between Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas proved to be a very close affair in the eyes of most spectators and commentators alike.

The first round was quite close overall, with Vargas perhaps edging things by the midway point based on work rate alone.

Broner was throwing a lot of single shots in the bout early on.

Not letting his hands go a whole lot.

Indeed his new coach Kevin Cunningham was very animated and felt his man was able to do much more and as he thought he was by far the better boxer of the two ability-wise.

Vargas looked like he was feeling the pace a bit by the 8th as Broner’s right hand found a home. However Vargas then found a second wind and landed a nice looping left hand of his own.

Broner had a huge round in the 9th and towards the end of the round unloaded on what looked like a very tired Vargas by that stage.

Some huge combinations landed by Broner.

The 10th was an entertaining round as both men dug in deep and traded at points with Broner looking like the stronger fighter at this point.

Vargas really looked to be feeling the pace.

The 11th was a more scrappy affair. Possibly the edge going to Vargas.

When the bell went for the 12th and final round both claimed victory.

In what was a very close fight the judges awarded the bout 115-113 Broner, 114-114 even a draw making the fight a majority draw.

Afterwards Broner flipped in the post-fight interview as he thought he won the fight – citing Vargas’ bruised and bloody face as reason for him to have won the fight.

“At the end of the day ya’ll now I beat him. I won that fight. I was connecting with right hands too. Are your eyes f***** up?”

The words of Broner to Showtime commentator Jim Grey afterwards.
