What Scott Quigg Said Straight After Valdez Defeat

Scott Quigg did not hide away from the media after his loss to Oscar Vldez this weekend on ESPN.

Quigg was happy to answer all questions of him after the unanimous points decision and was largely humble in defeat.

Speaking to a media scrum straight after the loss, Quigg said:

“I thought it was a good fight Early on, we want toe to toe I gave him a bit too much room to box.”

He added:

“He hits hard but nothing really troubled me. He caught me with a right hand just behind the back of the ear which dazed me for second or two but other than that… He does have power but nothing devastating where I was frightened to go forward or anything like that.”

He went on to say:

“I wasn’t going to start trading with him early on. I was making him miss a lot and blocking his shots. I knew after studying and watching him when he goes for a walk that’s when he tries to get a breather. The plan was to keep on him so when he went for a breather he didn’t get one. But towards the middle rounds he got on his bike and boxed well. Credit to him.”

Quigg suffered his first loss under new trainer Freddie Roach this weekend.

It will be interesting to see what fight they look to bring Quigg back in.

The featherweight division is certainly a tough one at the minute.
