Claressa Shields Reveals What Happened In Cris Cyborg Sparring

American female boxing sensation Claressa Shields has opened up for the first time on what took place in a sparring session between her and UFC champion Cris Cyborg.

Cyborg currently holds a world title in the sport of mixed martial arts under the UFC banner – but is widely credited in her respective sport as being one of the best female boxers in MMA.

It turns out she’s been keen to improve on those skills however – despite her dominance in her own sport.

She’s been sparring with one of if not the best female boxer in the world today in double Olympic champion Claressa Shields.

22-year-old Shields made her professional debut last year at middleweight (now fights at super-middleweight) and currently holds a pro record in boxing of 5-0-2KO.

Already becoming a world champion in her first year.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Shields spoke of what took place in a spar between her and Cyborg not long ago:

“When we sparred yeah, we cool, but at the same time we ended up getting in the ring with each other. It’s like people say you’re the best female boxer in the world and you the most feared, and people say that I’m that, so when we sparred it wasn’t friendly at all. I was trying to work with her but it was just to still show her like – I’m the better boxer here. Even her boyfriend afterwards was like – I’ve never seen anybody get in the ring with Chris like that.”

She later mentioned:

“She (Cyborg) has legit skills. She is okay. When she really puts some time into (boxing) it she can be really good.”

Shields last fought in January of this year against Tori Nelson in Verona. She won a unanimous points decision victory on January 12th.

The win saw her defend both her IBF and WBC super-middleweight world titles at the time. Her next bout is currently being planned at present.
