Anthony Joshua Reacts To Deontay Wilder Win Over Luis Ortiz

Momentum is now building all the time for an Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder showdown with boxing fans relentless in their calling for the clash.

Following Wilder’s win last weekend the WBC heavyweight champion was insistent afterwards that the problem in making the fight does nay lay on his – or his team’s end.

His manager Shelly Finkel even went as far to wave an email around in front of the press from Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

Claiming he had not heard from him in months.

There’s no denying that the fight just got bigger following Wilder’s latest win at the weekend though.

It was a win that in many ways announced him on the world boxing stage. Despite it being his seventh title defence since capturing the WBC crown originally against Bermane Stiverne (in their first fight).

Anthony Joshua was not that impressed with what he saw, however.

Speaking in an interview to Sky Sports, the Watford man said:

“But his powerful punch doesn’t come with an uppercut, it doesn’t come with a peached left hook. It just comes with a straight right hand. So you eliminate one or two of his main weapons and I think, you know, you kind of chip the tree down with Wilder. And I think he starts losing his confidence.”

Indeed this criticism has been levelled at Wilder in the past.

But the fact of the matter is he still possess that almighty one-punch knockout power to end proceedings in a blink of an eye.

The ultimate equalizer in heavyweight boxing, at the end of the day.
