The tallies are in for the Deontay Wilder vs Ortiz TV ratings this past weekend on Showtime in a WBC heavyweight title event that took place at the Barclays Center in New York.

Wilder won the bout by 10th round stoppage and produced arguably the best win of his professional career to date.

In the 7th round he was stunned badly by his Cuban challenger but rallied back in round 10 to stop Ortiz in what turned out to be a fight to remember.

On the same night in New York at Madison Square Garden, Sergey Kovalev boxed on rival network HBO and recorded a knockout in his second fight back since losing twice to Andre Ward.

US boxing reporter Jake Donovan has released the figures for what both cards did ratings-wise (the average numbers_:

Massive ratings win for @ShowtimeBoxing in Saturday’s H2H w/ @hboboxing. #WilderOrtiz (784k viewer avg) outperformed #KovalevMikhalkin (599k) by nearly 25% in viewer avg – and by miles in terms of in-ring action. Even #DirrellUzcategui2 (673k) outpaced HBo Main.

Not bad numbers indeed for the Wilder fight, to be fair.

The bout itself cracked the one million mark at peak on the night however, even more impressively:

The Wilder-Ortiz fight on Showtime averaged 1.1 million viewers and peaked at 1.2 million. The entire show averaged 730k
