WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders has been one of the many who have come out in their criticism of Canelo Alvarez following a failed doping test.

It has been widely reported that Canelo has tested positive for Clenbuterol, a performance enhancing substance.

His promoters have admitted the result but have pointed to it as being consistent with meat contamination.

Canelo has not made any formal comment himself on the matter as of yet.

Middleweight rival and current WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders voiced his opinion with the following however:

He’s gained quite a bit of support on Twitter so far with nearly 5000 ‘likes’ and 2500 ‘re-tweets’ at the time of this article.

The fight is just two months away with organisers now scrambling to see if it will still go ahead or not.

It is thought that the bout will stay go ahead at this point but more should be known by the end of the week.
