Carl Froch knows a thing or two about big time boxing having become a dominant force at super-middleweight during his career – he wants to see some big things from Deontay Wilder this weekend.

WBC champion Wilder has long campaigned for a showdown with Anthony Joshua from the UK – but has yet to land it.

One school of thought suggests that Joshua’s team simply won’t entertain Wilder’s demands at this point as their fighter is the bigger draw.

The only way Wilder can over turn this perception is with a big knockout win over Luis Ortiz this weekend in New York.

A highlight reel knockout over a tricky and respected operator in Cuban Ortiz would go a long way towards building Wilder’s stock this weekend.

Possibly even forcing Joshua and his promoters back to the negotiating table with a little bit more respect for the American, who has been noticeably promoting himself more in recent times.

Coming into this weekend’s big fight in the US Wilder holds a professional record of 29-0-38KO.

The only man to take him the distance so far been Bermane Stiverne – whom he subsequently knocked out in their rematch back in November.
