Mike Tyson and Deontay Wilder have been linked with one another in the media a lot in recent weeks following some controversial comments from Wilder.

The comments from Wilder came a few weeks ago when he said he would have beaten a 1986 – prime version of Mike Tyson.

Many disagreed.

This writer at least could not find one figure of note or credibility in the boxing world who agreed with Wilder.

In response to whether he thinks Wilder would have beat him in his prime – Tyson told TMZ:

“I don’t think so.”

That’s a bit modest there. Mike.

You can tell he wanted to expand on that. Credit to him for being as dignified as he was on the matter.

Tyson is still to this day the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history.

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder next fights on March 3rd when he puts his belt on the line against Cuban Luis Ortiz.

His last fight ended in a knockout of Bermane Stiverne in what was a rematch between the pair. Wilder won the WBC belt a few years back from Stiverne.

Wilder has been linked to a unification bout with fellow champion Anthony Joshua later in the year.

However a story emerged this week that Joshua could be looking at other options after his upcoming fight on March 31st against WBO champion Joseph Parker.
