Ortiz Looking For The KO Of Alexander – Eyes A Brawl Breaking Out

Victor Ortiz and Devon Alexander throw down in El Paso this weekend in a battle between two former world champions looking at one last chance at the big time.

Both men know what its like to reach the pinnacle of the sport in their careers having become world champions and been involved in some massive fights.

Ortiz in particular who fought Mayweather a few years back.

Boxing News and Views were advised of the following after the final press conference where Ortiz was quoted as saying:

“The victory is the only thing on my mind. I’m here to defeat Devon Alexander. I just need to trust my training and I know it’ll give the result I want. I’m definitely looking for the knockout. I want to put on a great performance for these fans. They’ve supported me throughout this promotion and I owe them something memorable.”
He added:
“Devon and I have known each other for a long time, but that all goes out the window on fight night. It’s going to be a brawl. We’re going to do what we have to do to get this win and move on to the next step of my career.”

A brawl seems ambitious given the fact Alexander is more of a boxer-type who looks to tactically engage his opponents more often than not.

No doubt Ortiz will look to take him out of that groove though – and try to make it a rough, tough fight.
