Amir Khan On The Money About Mayweather UFC Story

Many are now starting to see the Mayweather UFC saga (at this stage) for what it is – publicity seeking in a bid to stay relevant in the media. Amir Khan doesn’t buy it either and is spot on with his take on the subject.

Khan famously chased Mayweather for years in a bid to land a boxing match with him but alas, never got there in the end.

Khan and Mayweather are thought to get on behind the scenes when they meet but timing is everything and with Mayweather now effectively retired from boxing, the fight is gone for Khan at this point.

Mayweather has been linked to a fight with Conor McGregor in the UFC and now even more astonishingly, an MMA bout with one wrestler by the name of CM Punk.

Speaking to Sky Sports Amir Khan said:

“I don’t think he will ever step in the cage. MMA is a very difficult sport, you need to have a lot of strength and takedowns and I just don’t think a boxer is just gonna have all the tools to fight someone in an MMA cage, it’s gonna be really difficult.”

Common sense really – but he’s right.

There’s not enough time for Mayweather at this stage of his career to learn a new combat sport.

This seems like publicity creation for something more outside the box though.

What that is only Mayweather and his close associates know of course. Expect some movement on this in the coming weeks.
