Revealed: Eubank vs Groves Purses and WBSS Prize Money

The Eubank and Groves purses are quite a healthy amount this weekend as you can imagine. The figures have now been revealed ahead of Saturday night in Manchester.

The World Boxing Super Series was always going to have to initially operate at some sort of loss in its first year due to the sheer wealth of investment needed in something like this in boxing.

Coupled with the fact they had no American TV broadcaster to start with.

They have been selling relatively well however in terms of seats in the areas. This weekend’s fight between Groves and Eubank Jr reportedly sold out in just under 38 minutes.

But how much will both men make?

The figures are estimated to be £3 million pounds as the guaranteed purse for the semi-final of the WBSS this weekend.

That guaranteed amount will be split down the middle between both fighters.

Depending on sponsorship and pay per view and the agreement they have with the tournament, they both could make a bit more than that.

The final will then have a purse of £6.5 million British pounds with the winner thought to get approximately £4.3 million of.

The other £2.2 million will go to the runner-up.

The overall prize fund for the first series of the World Boxing Super Series is estimated at just under a cool £20 million British pounds.

As you can see, for the fighter who makes it through all the way and wins, he’ll have earned quite well out of it.

Considering this is just the very first year of a new format in boxing which is still getting on its feet as a tournament the above is not too shabby.
