Eddie Hearn Reacts To Tyson Fury Getting Stripped Of Belt

Tyson Fury learned of the news this week that he is no longer Ring Magazine heavyweight champion after holding the belt for nearly two and a half years without fighting.

Fury was fairly magnanimous to the news and knows he’ll have a chance to fight for the belt again one day if he gets his career back to where it once was.

The magazine acknowledged Fury’s contribution but had to move on as too much time had went past.

Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Promoter Eddie Hearn gave his reaction:

“If I’m honest, it probably should have happened sooner.”

He added:

“I think they’ve given him every opportunity; I think they’ve been pretty fair, really.”

Fury is currently in the shop window for a new promoter with Hearn possibly in the mix for the job, along with a number of others.

Hearn knows that a Fury fit and motivated is a force in the heavyweight division and ultimately a big name to match his star fighter Anthony Joshua with.

Fury has vowed to come back to the ring by this April but has not yet confirmed an opponent.

His boxing license is expected to be fully returned in the coming weeks after having his suspension lifted recently.
