The practice of employing women at live sports events in darts and formula one known as “walk in girls” has been abandoned in recent months with pressure now coming under boxing to do the same.

The feminism and sexism brigade is pushing hard for it, though, despite the ring card girls in the sport of boxing clearly not wanting it, as obviously, they’d be out of work.

Ring card girls are a tradition in the sport of boxing and in this overly politically correct world that we now live in, one of the sport’s leading businessmen and promoters has come out swinging and standing firm on this issue.

Speaking to GQ Magazine, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport said:

“The ring card girls have been a part of boxing history for many, many years. As far as I am aware, darts will still have dancers on stage performing, but the walk-on girls were not really necessary.”

He added:

“From a boxing point of view, we want to keep the traditions of the sport going and in my opinion it has nothing to do with sexism or feminism. It is just a part of boxing and until we are told otherwise.”

Good to see. To stop a woman earning a living legally from a way that she wants to, is surely baffling to understand for most, surely.
