Johnny Nelson Makes Extremely Bold Claim About Oleksandr Usyk

Oleksandr Usyk currently sits near the top of the cruiserweight division and is also currently part of the new World Boxing Super Series format.

Many believe Ukraine’s Usyk is indeed the favorite to win the Muhammad Ali trophy in the WBSS but he’ll still have to get through a number of stiff challenges if he’s to do so.

In recent years he has come more and more onto the world boxing radar after winning the WBO cruiserweight world title and will also compete for the WBC strap next up.

Johnny Nelson who was at one time the man to beat at cruiserweight knows a thing or two about the division, suffice to say.

Speaking to Ring TV the Sky Sports pundit and former cruiserweight champion of the world made a rather bold claim about what Usyk will achieve in the future:

“I think this guy will end up being a unified cruiserweight, as well as a unified heavyweight champion, for quite some time.”

He’s certainly good – but is he that good?

The big question for me would surround does he have the size and frame to compete with some of the modern best heavyweight fighters.

The likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are giants of the ring and would outweigh and reach him significantly.
