Errol Spence’s Promoter Makes Crude Joke When Amir Khan Fight Suggested

Errol Spence’s promoter Lou DiBella and indeed his charge Errol Spence Jr may have made a rather disrespectful jibe at Amir Khan.

Khan announced his return to the sport recently by signing a three-fight deal with English promoter Eddie Hearn where his first fight will come on April 21st in Liverpool against an opponent to be named.

It won’t be Adrien Broner more than likely, as first thought.

It certainly won’t be against IBF welterweight world champion Errol Spence for his first fight in over two years away from boxing.

Spence put in a world-class performance this past weekend when he stopped two-weight world champion Lamont Peterson inside the distance in New York.

After the fight in the post-fight press conference it was asked to Spence would he like a fight with Amir Khan down the road.

He didn’t even reply. He simply laughed at the idea.

To which his promoter Lou DiBella re-directed the question with a smile on his face to the reporter who suggested it by saying:

“Would you like that fight?”

He continued:

“Man down (laughs).”

Personally I don’t see what’s so funny and a joke about it.

Okay, Khan would go into that as an underdog but he’s still a very skilled fighter if he comes back to anything near his best.
