David Price Reveals What Really Happened In Anthony Joshua Spar

Anthony Joshua Admits To Infamous Sparring Incident With David Price

The two are more than familiar with one another’s fight game after sharing what has become a now infamous sparring session a few years ago.

Anthony Joshua and David Price will share the same bill on March 31st when Joshua fights Joseph Parker in a unification bout and Price fights Russian Alexander Povetkin on the undercard.

A tough fight for Price without doubt, so big respect for him for taking the match and considering the size of the platform it will be on around the world too.

In front of 80,000 people both Joshua and Price will put their heavyweight skills on display but it wasn’t long ago that the two did so with one another behind closed doors.

Joshua has admitted that Price knocked him down in the spar recently saying that he was only out of a prison cell the day he stepped in the ring with Price.

Now Price has spoken on what really happened to clear up any rumours or confusion that may exist:

Speaking to Sky Sports Price said:

“I landed a hard shot, a good shot. Similar to the shot Wladimir Klitschko landed on him. I caught Joshua with a throwaway left hook. I sold him that, then caught him with a big right hand.”

He added:

“He fell forwards, onto his face. He went down heavily. He tried to get up, but was on unsteady legs, and the trainer pulled him out.”

That was obviously a long time ago and a lot has happened since then of course.

Joshua is a totally different animal and within 20 fights has gone on to become world champion and maintain a 100% win and knockout record thus far.

Liverpool man Price has not had the same fortune in his career since his spar with Joshua – but no doubt will be looking at the Povetkin fight as possibly his last route back to the big time.
