Boxing Promoter Compares Heavyweight Tony Bellew To Donald Trump

One of the early bizarre comparisons in boxing of 2018 between two characters you would not typically put in the same sentence with one another.

While US President Donlad Trump continues to make world headlines a certain boxer from Liverpool has rather oddly been linked to him.

WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker’s promoter David Higgins spoke to Behind The Gloves of his first meeting with Bellew:

“It was like having a conversation with Donald Trump.”

He went on to say that he could not get a word in with Bellew and that the boxer:

“Shouted him down.”

While Bellew is certainly an extroverted chap it’s hard to visualise him shouting someone down and spitting in their face like Higgins suggested.

This seems like an early play at potential negotiations for a fight down the line.

One that both promoters involved probably think has a realistic chance of happening at some stage. Hence the early verbal from Higgins in Bellew’s direction.

As a fight it would certainly be an interesting one.

But both Parker and Bellew have a lot on their plate to deal with before they can even remotely think about fighting one another.

Parker will take on Anthony Joshua in late March while Bellew is pencilled in to take on David Haye in a rematch this coming May.
