Frank Warren Fuming With Eddie Hearn Over Clash Of TV Dates

Eddie Hearn Jabs Shelly Finkel and Frank Warren Over Joshua vs Wilder Contract

Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren has been left mystified as to why promoter Eddie Hearn decided to put on Amir Khan’s comeback show on the same night as Carl Frampton vs Nonito Donaire.

Indeed, many within boxing don’t understand the decision either.

Both will be big fight nights in their own right – why run them on the same night?

The boxing rumour mill suggests that Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn who is promoting Amir Khan’s comeback fight on April 21st – simply didn’t have enough time to change the date by the time the Frampton vs Donaire fight was announced.

This will mean Sky Sports and BoxNation / BT Sports will directly go head to head with one another in the UK and Ireland to duke it out for TV ratings.

Speaking in his UK star column, legendary promoter Frank Warren said:

“It is something that needs to be looked at but we announced our date with Frampton first so we cannot be blamed this time.”

He’s right. This is a balls up of the highest order by Eddie. Boxing fans will want to see both fights. Why, when boxing is experiencing a boom time at the moment – do this?

Either way, Frampton vs Donaire is a cracking fight.

You’d expect somewhere along the lines that accommodations will be made by the respective TV companies involved to ensure fans can watch both main events – at separate times at least.

As in, Frampton vs Donaire perhaps at 9pm and Amir Khan’s fight at 10pm. Or the other way around.
