Kell Brook Reacts To Bitter Rival Amir Khan Signing With His Promoter

Kell Brook and Amir Khan might not like one another, but they both now have to come to terms with the fact that they are promotional stablemates.

Yesterday saw a massive shock in the boxing world when Amir Khan announced after years of back and forth jibes with promoter Eddie Hearn, he finally decided to let the past be the past and move forward with a new three fight deal with Hearn’s Matchroom.

Straight away the obvious fight on everyone’s mind is the long-awaited Khan vs Brook fight. A bout that for years has eluded the boxing public.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the news Kell Brook only has one thing on his mind:

“We need to agree on a fight this year because I don’t know if I will be boxing into next year, if I am honest.”

He makes a fair point. Neither guy is getting any younger to be honest. Whether they are both in their prime anymore is also questionable.

But Khan overall when you look at his career has had a few breaks and despite the early knockouts. The rest periods in his career probably make him the slightly fresher of the two.

The main problem though is that Brook is too big for the welterweight division now. He always has been in truth.

He’s signalled his intent to fight at super-welterweight this year and it would be up to Khan to move up in weight at the back-end of 2018.

Money talks though. It always does in boxing.

If there’s enough dough involved don’t be surprised if a catchweight was tabled.

Both guys have the same promoter so one way or another – expect this fight to happen somewhere along the lines of Khan’s next three fights.

Next up Khan is rumored to be in line to face Manny Pacquiao or Adrien Broner.
