Khan Explains Why He Chose Eddie Hearn In Shock Switch

Not many saw this link up coming but what an exciting one. Amir Khan and promoter Eddie Hearn have put past differences behind them to announce their start today.

Khan is just out of the “I’m A Celeb” jungle in Australia but he has not wasted any time with what team he wants behind him.

Khan started his career off in the UK but in recent years has boxed mostly in the United States. Speaking on why he chose Hearn, Khan said today:

“No one ever thought me and Eddie would be sat here on the same table. We decided to put everything behind us and move forward.”

The Bolton boxer continued:

“Eddie in my opinion is the best promoter in the UK. I want to start fighting in the UK more now. It’s all about being with the best. Being with the best team. This is where I belong. I started my career off in England.”

He added:

“I can’t do it on my own. I needed a team to do it with. I’ve got my father still with me who’s going to work with Eddie and make sure we do things right.”

On his past relationship with Hearn not being the best, he joked:

“This must have been a big shocker for everybody.”

Khan has signed a three fight deal with Matchroom Sport which will start on April 21st in the Liverpool Echo Arena against an opponent to be confirmed.

It is understood that the opponent will be confirmed next week.
