Mayweather Reveals He Made $1.1 Billion – Offers To Be A Voice For Boxers

Mayweather Reveals He Made $1.1 Billion

Floyd Mayweather has started 2018 passionately speaking about the boxing promotion game, about fighters both under and not under his banner. As it looks like he’ll now be stepping up his efforts with his promotional company – Mayweather Promotions.

Now that he’s retired as an active fighter Mayweather appears to be totally diving into the promotional world.

In truth, he’s a smart guy. Always has been. He knows that American boxing doesn’t have the type of Don King it used to.

Dana White and Eddie Hearn have done good jobs of making themselves famous in recent years to help promote their respect combat sports businesses, but Mayweather knows his level of fame can act as a voice as a promoter for boxers far superior to anyone.

Given the sheer size of his following.

Speaking to FightHype.com he opened up on how much money he’s made so far and what he wants to do for fighters:

“All I’ll say about my career is this. If I would have had Al Haymon from the beginning of my career, I would have made more than just $1.1 billion dollars. Because it’s us working together – we’re an unstoppable force. Even right now in boxing. All these fighters would be a lot bigger. Because these fighters need a voice and I’m the voice. Then, they need two guys that are going to go out there and get them what they want and put them in that position.”

Notable fighters he’s promoted thus far include Badou Jack, Gervonta Davis and Ishe Smith. Time will tell how far he goes in the promotional world this year.

One thing is certain though, competition is a good thing and with Dana White coming into boxing this year – expect the quality of match ups made to only improve.

At the end of the day, fans will demand it and fans are what drive the sport. No one can bull**** the fans.
