Isaac Dogboe Wins WBO Interim Super-Bantamweight Title

Isaac Dogboe continued his unbeaten run this weekend in Africa and has positioned himself for a shot at a world title.

The Ghana super-bantamweight put on quite the display after he stopped Mexican Cesar Juarez in the 5th round to capture the WBO interim super-bantamweight title.

Juarez who was previously top ranked contender for the WBO belt currently held by Jessie Magdaleno, came out with one thing on his mind – to knock Dogboe out.

However this fury was met with some hard combinations as Juarez went down as early as round 2 from Dogboe’s crisp punching.

The Mexican bravely got back to his feet and battled on but he was in there with a fighter who was just too much for him in the end.

He went to the canvas again in round 5 from Dogboe’s onslaught. This time the referee called halt to the contest.

After the bout it was confirmed that WBO champion Jessie Magdaleno will now have to face Isaac Dogboe next up in what should prove for an interesting match of styles.

The super-bantamweight division is alive and well and 23-year-old Dogboe has now firmly positioned himself as a player in the weight class to watch out for.

His win moved his professional record to 18-0-12KO.
