Long Overdue Mayweather vs McGregor Pay Per View Numbers Revealed

The Mayweather vs McGregor pay per view numbers have finally been made official, nearly four months after the bout took place last August.

The cross over boxing event between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in Las Vegas earlier this year was expected to set the all-time record for pay per view sales of a combat sports event in America.

Conor McGregor ultimately lost by stoppage to Mayweather in the end.

Although it did very well, the reality is – it did not surpass the initial expectations.

Mind you it still did whopping numbers, in the era where few and fewer people are willing to pay for fights.

According to an official release from Showtime the fight did a whopping 4.3 million pay per view buys in North America.

It is understood that this includes all pay per view outlets for the fight across the US and Canada. Both on TV and online.

While official numbers were not released in the UK it was thought the fight did exceptionally well there.

The current all time record still stands in the US however at 4.6 million pay per view buys – set by Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather back in 2015.
