Katie Taylor’s Dad Concerned For World Champion Daughter

Katie Taylor’s dad has spoken of what he would like to see his super-talented daughter do next after her latest world title fight.

Peter Taylor is no longer the trainer of his daughter Katie Taylor but played a massive part in all her success and development as a boxer in the amateurs before she made the decision to turn professional not long ago.

As an amateur, father and daughter achieved it all as a boxer-coach combination that culminated in one of the great moments in Irish and indeed female sporting history, when Taylor became the first woman boxer ever to win Olympic Gold in 2012 in London.

Taylor has now gone on to capture world honors in the professional ranks and made the first defence of her WBA lightweight crown earlier this week live on Sky Sports.

Her dad Peter believes she has achieved everything now. As reported by the Irish Mirror Mr.Taylor said:

“I’d like to see her retire. I’ve said that since the Olympic Games in London, but more so now. She’s won the Olympic Games. She’s world champion. What else can you do?”

If Taylor did choose to retire, what a career it has already been.

But with possible big fights in the States in the new year, her passion for boxing and the ever-growing army of adoring fans around the world she has, maybe it will be too hard to walk away from the sport just yet.

It is thought that her next fight could come as early as St.Patrick’s Day in 2018, or else a possible homecoming fight in Dublin next April.
