Conor Benn overcame Frenchman Cedrick Peynaud tonight but was made to work in what was a brawl of a contest.
Like his legendary fighting father Nigel Benn, Conor Benn clearly likes to have a bit of a dog fight himself.
The first round was an intense one that saw Conor Benn dropped for the first time in his career as a pro. Dramatic stuff that saw Benn get up and fight fire with fire and go toe to toe.
Benn was ruled to be knocked down a second time in the round – but in reality it was a slip.
Both men chucked the proverbial kitchen sink at one another in what was an amazing round to watch. Truly incredible action.
Benn managed to settle down a little bit behind a solid jab in round two but got caught with a massive shot right at the end of the round. Benn also developed a nasty cut over his left eye by this point.
The third round started explosively by Benn, swinging for the fences and trying to take out his French opponent with literally every punch thrown.
He hurt Peynaud to both the body and head and was loading up with absolutely everything but got caught coming in, in what was a close round. Benn looked like he was behind on the scorecards and needed a knockout.
The Frenchman unloaded some huge shots on Benn at the start of the fourth – with Benn’s reaction to then throw back just as hard.
Benn landed an excellent right hand to the body of Peynaud in the middle of the round, the Frenchman visibly winded as the pace slowed down by both men a little bit.
Benn fought back in dramatic fashion in round 5 however with a huge flurry to drop Peynaud in sensational fashion. He continued to pile on the pressure with body shots as the Frenchman looked to be breathing heavily.
Benn finished the round strongly with some very stiff jabs. Huge round for Benn.
Conor Benn opened up an enormous right hand in the 6th and final round to drop the Frenchman. A huge shot with Peynaud’s legs all over the place when he get up.
An amazing fight overall. Surely a contender for fight of the year. A truly incredible war and credit to both guys for the showing tonight.
