Tyson Fury not turning up yesterday in London for the beginning of what is expected to be the final stages of his UKAD case sparked outrage, but as always, there is two sides to every story.

Boxing fans and those interested in seeing him return to the sport suggested he was jeopardising his future boxing career by potentially not cooperating with UKAD.

But that could not be further from the truth.

His official promoter Hennessy stated the following after the online debacle that ensued:

“Dear All, To be clear Tyson Fury was not required to be at the UKAD hearing yesterday. More news to follow shortly.”

There you have it, a simple misunderstanding.

No doubt Fury will be needed to attend at a further date. As will likely his cousin and fellow heavyweight contender Hughie Fury too – who is also involved in the long, complex, case.

Hughie last fought earlier this year when he challenged for a heavyweight title for the first time. A points defeat to WBO champion Joseph Parker at the Manchester Arena.

Fury has not boxed since defeating Wladimir Klitschko all the way back in 2015 when he become the then undisputed world heavyweight champion.
