Former Champion Wladimir Klitschko Makes Incredible Gesture

Wladimir Klitschko makes an amazing gesture further to officially retiring from the sport of boxing earlier in 2017.

His final fight proved to be against Anthony Joshua last April in front of a sellout 90,000 Wembley stadium in a fight that lived up to the hype in every way imaginable.

Heavyweight bombs exchanged, knockdowns, heart and grit, a fight that had it all and one that is surely in contention for fight of the year.

Ultimately Joshua won the bout on the night and after the fight it was thought a rematch would take place between the two.

Klitschko decided against it in the end and retired from the sport, but the robe he used that night is now being put up for auction in an amazing gesture for charity by the former champion.

He announced the details of which here:

A champion in the ring and out of the ring. No doubt about it.

Klitschko’s legacy in boxing will live on for sometime with a future Hall of Fame induction surely something that will happen at some point.

As per current rules of the International Boxing Hall of Fame a fighter must be retired at least five years before being considered.

When 2022 rolls around expect Klitschko to be in the mix.
