Report: Floyd Mayweather Considering A 51st Fight

Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather considering one last hurrah in boxing it has been reported, just a couple of months after McGregor fight.

It’s hard to see who’s left for Mayweather to fight at this stage of the game.

Outside of potentially a move up to the middleweight division and winning a title there against the winner of a Golovkin vs Canelo rematch, hypothetically speaking.

The young guns in the welterweight division and established fighters there like Errol Spence, Keith Thurman and Terence Crawford would likely not be big enough draws for Mayweather to come out of retirement for, in all honesty.

That time has passed for him. The new welterweight division and stars are coming through now.

But TMZ have reported that Floyd Mayweather is in fact considering one last boxing match – saying on their website:

“Floyd Mayweather has been telling people close to him that he’s considering a 51st fight — and he’s been training like a maniac in the gym … but we’re told there has been NO official movement … yet.”

Some have suggested that a second McGregor fight could be in play, but this is surely highly unlikely given that UFC want him back in the MMA cage in the near future.

Unless they co-promoted the event in boxing and potentially use McGregor as a kick starter into their planned venture into the world of boxing promotion, which some expect to happen sooner rather than later.

The main question for Mayweather will be risk vs reward. As it has always been really.

A fight for the middleweight title in 2018 is the only realistic thing big enough for him to comeback for one would have to think, outside of another spectacle showcase against McGregor.
