Middleweight Spike O’Sullivan from Ireland has received the good news he was hoping for after an impressive ESPN debut.

Following an impressive TKO victory over Nick Quigley last September in Boston, a fight that was shown live on ESPN in the US – Irishman Gary Spike O’Sullivan has now landed a fight live on HBO against Antoine Douglas on December 16th.

The fight will take place as the co-main event for the WBO middleweight world title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemiuex.

Should O’Sullivan win, he will be forcing his way back into the world title picture once again after losing to Chris Eubank Jr a couple of years ago.

Since that defeat in 2015 O’Sullivan has secured four wins on the bounce (all in the US) and has spoken in recent times of how he is now in peak physical condition and in the prime of his career.

A persistent ear injury that blighted the Irishman’s career previously is understood to no longer be any issue.

His current professional record reads 26-2-18KO and will fight Douglas next month in Quebec, Canada.

Douglas, a 25 year old middleweight from Virginia, is a big hitter himself with a record of 22-1-1-16KO and will enjoy a slight height and reach advantage over his Irish counterpart.
