Tony Bellew vs David Haye Rematch Postponed – Boxing World Reacts

The Tony Bellew vs David Haye rematch in the heavyweight division has received bad news today it has been officially confirmed.

Speculation had existed a little over a week ago that Haye might have to pull out of the upcoming December 17th bout due to aggravating an existing injury to his Achilles sustained back in March.

Nothing was said however by Haye and promoter of the event Eddie Hearn dismissed the rumors as rubbish.

Well, a little over a week later, the worst has happened.

Not for the first time in his career David Haye has had to pull out of a high profile boxing match due to injury it has been confirmed by Dan Rafael of ESPN — who has cited that Haye will require surgery.

This comes off the back of a long list of big fights in recent years that Haye has had to pull out of. Notably two big fights against Tyson Fury in years gone by.

Whether or not Haye will be able to recover from another surgery at this stage of his career and return to the ring to challenge Bellew again remains to be seen.

The news comes with about 4 weeks to go to the show, so there is still time for the event’s organisers to find a replacement opponent for Bellew.

Boxing fans have been venting since hearing the news today:
