WBC Youth Champion Haney Impresses Again With Stoppage

Devin Haney continued his march through the paid ranks this week as he clocked in another stoppage win on his resume.

Haney originally from San Francisco, California, now fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada and this past weekend went 18-0 (12KO) with a 5th round TKO of Hamza Sempewo.

The WBC Youth Champion is still young but after the fight in Atlanta outlined his considerable ambitions:

“I know I’m only 18-years old, but I’m on my way to the top.”

Indeed he’s making quick progress at the moment, and been kept incredibly busy too.

So much so that he’ll be returning to the ring in a short couple of weeks again on November 18th against Taiwo Ali in Atlantic City.

Haney is one of the busiest fighters in boxing at the moment, having fought 18 times in total to date since only turning pro back in 2015.

An occurance that perhaps is not seen as much in modern day professional boxing – where fighters often are not getting the number of dates that they would like.

Nicknamed ‘The Dream’, Haney is definitely a lightweight to keep an eye over the next 12-18 months as he continues his climb up the ranks at 135lbs.

It’s a highly competitive division in the US and worldwide at the moment, but if Haney keeps winning, there is no logical reason why he can’t be knocking on the door of a title shot sooner rather than later.
