Yuriorkis Gamboa Returns To The Ring At Madison Square Garden

Yuriorkis Gamboa is back in action it has been confirmed today on an interesting night of action at the Garden, too.

He’ll take on Jason “El Canito” Sosa in a super-featherweight 10 round showdown at MSG on November 25th.

It will be supporting the main event that will be shown on HBO that night for Sergey Kovalev’s first comeback fight since suffering back to back defeats to Andre Ward, who has since retired from boxing.

Gamboa, a talented Cuban fighter whom originally won Olympic Gold before turning over as a pro, has faced some issues in recent years (between 2015 and 2016) that saw him sit out on the sidelines for different periods of his career.

Now at 35 he knows that the Sosa fight could offer him a chance back at a world title shot – he said today:

A win over Sosa on HBO could push me back into title contention.”

He’s already fought three times in 2017 however and has well and truly got any ring rust out of his system that may have been there before.

His fight later this month was meant to be a rematch against Robinson Castellanos whom Gamboa lost to earlier this year.

However due to Castellanos pulling out it will be Sosa instead.
