Wilder Reacts To ‘All About Money’ Hearn Saying Joshua Fight ‘Not 50-50’

Deontay Wilder reacts to UK promoter Eddie Hearn recently saying that a fight against Anthony Joshua is not a ’50-50′ split.

As the boxing world gears up for its latest heavyweight title fight this weekend in the UK between Anthony Joshua and Carlos Takam, another heavyweight title match up across the pond is not far away either.

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder takes on Bermane Stiverne in a rematch next month in New York.

This follows initial opponent Luis Ortiz been pulled from the fight after a failed doping test.

Alabama native Wilder has been frustrated at the lack of opportunity to big fights this year but knows that should he win his upcoming defence, big fights must surely be around the corner for him in 2018.

None would come more bigger than would be a showdown and unification fight against Anthony Joshua. A coming together of big hitting heavyweight champions from the US and UK.

However it might not happen straight away.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn wants his other heavyweight Dillian Whyte to fight Wilder first. Then the winner to take on Joshua.

Wilder while speaking to Fight Hype, gave his reaction to this. He also had some rather heated words for Hearn personally:

“I think Eddie (Hearn) is scared of that fight. We’ve got to keep in mind that Eddie is all about money. He grew up in a family of money. So his mindset is going to be about money at the end of the day. Lets face it. That’s the way he’s built. That’s what he grew up on. Is the money side of it first. So if you do have a dangerous guy who can interrupt your money flow, why not stall it? Let him (Joshua) get as many fights as we can and build. We’ve got a great thing going on.”

For the fight to have any chance of happening of course both men will need to keep winning.

That’s the danger with waiting for fights to happen. Particularly in heavyweight boxing – where one punch can derail plans in the blink of an eye.

Time will tell if we ever see the Joshua vs Wilder fight, it would be an intriguing bout from a pure punching power perspective if nothing else.

Both guys hit like absolute trains to put it mildly. A combined 56 wins by way of knockouts as professionals to date a nuerical testament to that.
