Dillian Whyte returns to action this weekend knowing he is just one fight away potentially from a world title shot at Deontay Wilder.

This is not done and dusted however. Not be any stretch of the imagination.

Whyte and Wilder most both win their fights and Wilder must of course agree to the fight.

The bone of contention seems to exist at the moment pertaining to Wilder wanting a straight shot at Anthony Joshua next in a unification (provided Whyte wins next month against Bermane Stiverne), rather than fight Whyte beforehand.

Whyte and Joshua’s promoter however Eddie Hearn seems adamant on making the Whyte vs Wilder fight first, though.

Whyte must first get past Robert Helenius this weekend if he is to keep any aspirations of a world title shot going.

Speaking ahead of Saturday night’s fight Dillian Whyte doubts Helenius mental strength:

“I don’t think he likes the heat which will play against him because I’m coming to cook something on Saturday. He was supposed to be the next Wladimir Klitschko, they were really pushing him at one stage. He’s had a couple of slip ups along the way but he’s very experienced compared to me.”

He added:

“Wilder is a disgrace. I want to get into a position to fight for his belt because he is not going to do it voluntarily. They will say AJ is number one. He has multiple belts and he’s the only one who is fighting the names. Wilder is a chump, he’s not fought a mandatory in two years and Joseph Parker is defending his title on YouTube so that shows his level. That says it all.”

The fight this weekend will be part of the Anthony Joshua vs Carlos Takam heavyweight title show in Cardiff live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and Ireland and live on Showtime in the USA.
