Remember world champion Devon Alexander? Well, he’s getting back into the ring for the first time in a while in the near future.

The last time the former two-weight world champion competed as an active fighter was on October 2015 when he suffered a points defeat that night to Aaron Martinez by unanimous decision.

The last time he fought before that was a year earlier in 2014 no less. Another unanimous decision defeat. This time to Amir Khan.

He spent two years off since last fighting due to health issues but at 30 years of age will now return fit and healthy against Walter Castillo.

It will be part of a Premier Boxing Champions event on November 21st on FS1 and Boxeo De Campeones on Fox Deportes.

Speaking on the comeback today, Devon Alexander said:

“Two years is a long time to be away from something you love but I wanted to make sure when I come back that I would be 100 percent my old self.”

Many will remember Alexander as one of the most technically competent boxers around when on song a few years back.

He holds wins over the likes of Marcos Maidana and Lucas Matthysse of Argentina. His only defeats coming to top tier opposition like Amir Khan, Tim Bradley and Shawn Porter.

He also has wins over other solid opponents and former world champions in the past such as Juan Urango, Junior Witter, Rendall Bailey, DeMarcus Corley and Andreas Kotelnik.

A skillful operator, widely avoided at one time – he won the IBF title at both junior-welterweight and at the full 147lbs welterweight limit.

Adding further to his comments today on his comeback Alexander noted:

“My last outings were not me, and a lot of my fans and people that know me are aware of that. I’ve been in constant training since then while getting my personal situation in order.”
